i decided to make my own dollar store adventure after watching a video here on youtube.

Plan that your plans are never gonna go as planned and then you’re never gonna be disappointed. I think that is my main takeaway for today, because this week is meant to be all about implementing and there’s not a lot of that happening so far this week, I got distracted the ol’shiny object again, shiny objects!.. with the anchor podcast platform announcing this sponsorship stuff that they’ve got out there. And then I've got this opportunity at home where I can get some earthmoving done out the back of the house to make it actually kid friendly for summer which is something that you want in Australia where snakes are deadly. I think you gotta be, you gotta be able to, you gotta be able to have little pivots within your big pivot you gotta be able to shift you gotta be able to change plans. That's why I think the ‘if this, then that’ schedule works quite well however I'll be going to get stuff done over the next couple of days.

A busy day, just back from the zoo today. I just wanted to talk about a bit of a sideline to my positive mindset stuff. I don't think there's anything quite more positive than being productive and creating and doing your own work and getting ahead and moving towards your goals. last week I got a bit distracted with a black-and-white photography challenge and you know that’s great it’s fun, but the problem is I don’t really have any time to do that kinda stuff, but there's another challenge which has come to my attention is Michael Warth’s has done a #7MinDrawingChallenge which aligns perfectly with what I'm trying to do, get a page of a kids book out each day. So if I can illustrate that within seven minutes and then colour it out over the following day then, you know, I'm getting stuff done every day I'm feeling good about it because I’m actually producing some work and so if you can add any of those challenges or even make up your own challenge and see if anyone else wants to join in it's a great way of getting some accountability on getting meeting your goals. #NoSmallCreator #ForkInTheRoad

Amazon affiliates, merchandise, Patreon are all really good ways of monetising your journey. I think it's really important that you put this in place early on in your journey, because then you can start to see a little bit of income. Then you might be able to gauge what might be working and what isn't working. Because if nobody is buying your little bits and pieces that you're putting out which is going towards your larger piece of content maybe your larger piece of content is actually not going to work. So I think it's not only a monetising your journey thing, it's a testing ground for that thing, where you can put the feelers out and see if it's there’s actually a market for what you're trying to do, which might save you some time in the Long run.

This morning I wish I was vlogging on more than my phone, because I got some lovely kangaroos that we just running past in the distance and you can't really zoom in with a phone well you can, but it looks like hell. Yesterday no vlog went up, but I did shoot the Vlog. But I was sticking to my number one value in my ‘How’ part of the Golden circle which was putting being a stay at home dad first and that pretty much meant shooting my vlog at the very end of the day in the dwindling daylight and not getting enough time to edit which means a double edit tonight but you know that's okay I think a lot of people get caught up in 24 hours of the day and that's it. I'm kinda putting that out further to more like you know seven days in the week and if some days it means I don't get much done and other days I can get more done that's good my goals are more about getting seven vlogs out a week and one podcast, As well as my other work which I'm gonna start trying to fit in soon.

So today as you might of seen on my Twitter feed that I'm going to the dentist. and you know, you might think that's not related at all. Why you doing that? Well I'm kind of thinking about fear and fear of acting. Like I haven't been to the dentist in over 30 years and not until today when I've actually got such a bad toothache that I'm in agonising pain do I actually do something about it and I think that comes back to my subject last week when I was talking about doing things which make you uncomfortable doing things which make you nervous. Because they're only going to make you better in the Long run. I've been putting off going to the dentist all this time and like I'm not gonna die, I hope I'm not gonna die, anyway we’ll find out…
So here I am at the other end of the dentist trip and my main takeaway from this whole exercise apart from my tooth is that don't put things off, because if you do you might lose the tooth. And you know you might miss opportunities, you might miss out on lots of things, and you know this fear of the unknown you've got to overcome, and it's funny that putting up with this tooth pain this agonising pain was way more painful than getting it removed, in fact having it removed didn't hurt at all. So I suppose the take away is to take that giant leap to make that step and it might not be as scary as you think.

I've kind of discovered that goal setting is a little bit like saving... you know it’s pretty boring it's not as interesting as winning the lottery. Everyone wants to win the lottery and we only tend to hear the stories about people who win the lottery. We don't hear the stories about the people who saved five dollars a day for 15 years and attained a good level of comfort from doing so. You don't hear those kinds of stories. But I think that is the sustainable way I think it's the only way over time every little bit every day you've got a build body of work, you've got to not feel guilty about inserting levels of monetisation in to that so you can start to get something back so you can start doing more and start building towards that successful career.

Rather than getting depressed or getting bogged down or getting fixed on the struggles and living your struggles. I think it's good to be able to try and embrace them and see what good can come out of them, see what those struggles can teach you and make you a better person in the long run and turn those struggles into superpowers. If I can focus on those strengths then I might be able to get a head a bit. I might be able to have a chance at my career pivot experiment,building a successful career doing something that I love, I certainly hope that I can. If you're struggling with anything please hop over onto the all humans struggle Facebook group and share with everyone there, it’s a very supportive community. And of course if you're struggling with any mental health issues - I'm not quite sure which services are available in your country - but really take people up on their services. I did and I find it really helps to talk these things out with people. #AllHumansStruggle #NoSmallCreator

The biggest thing for my new years resolutions week is to have consistency, to build in consistency and to have a backup plan for when everything goes wrong. Because without backup you can't have consistency and I think to have consistency I need to be doing something called batching which is getting a whole bunch of jobs done at once, similar jobs, get them all done at once and then you can start to get ahead in the process so when the system does go down you've actually got a contingency and you can still be putting your content out and everything that I've been looking at is telling me that I need to be doing stuff consistently at regular times otherwise you're gonna lose your following so what I want to try and achieve is a regular daily upload, because up until now I've been the almost daily vlogger, certainly not the daily vlogger and the Almost weekly podcast. I wanna put a change to that, I wanna make it a regular thing that the vlog goes out no matter what, I wanna upload at a particular time of the day for the vlog and if you're watching on YouTube I'd love to hear where you're watching from, what town, where you are in the world and what time you watch because I'm having real issues posting different times of the day, sometimes I post and I'll get no response, sometimes I post and I get a good response. So I’d love to know when you're watching videos and also when you're listening to your podcast. Where you are in the world and what time of day because it’d be really helpful if you could let me know that in the comments and then I can build in some consistency, get it up every day so you know at a certain time of day that's when I'm gonna be posting, that's my aim, that's my goal, that's my new years resolution. #DailyVlogger #NoSmallCreator

So I didn’t meet my New Years resolutions. Maybe I can keep to my financial New Years resolutions, with a little self awareness. An update on the goals for my self published kids book project. #NoSmallCreator

So more earthworks, more paving, more stuff which isn't the stuff which I'm trying to get done stuff happening. but I did get some stuff done in the downtime, I managed to record one of these adverts for my anchor podcast and I did it all on my phone, read from their script, I added a few little extra bits of my own. The only problem is that from my phone into an existing podcast it just dumped it straight at the start which is really not where I thought it was gonna end up because I thought I'd selected somewhere else, anyway. So in another down time i managed to get over, because I panicked, I'm trying to get it in the right spot from my desktop. But it wasn't even showing me where It was. so I re-brought it in again in the spot where I wanted it which actually fixed it. it works in iTunes, so if you haven’t listened to the Brian Vlasich interview please go over there now, because it's really great i love this Interview and you know what you'll also be giving to a creator ‘me’ one cent.

Now I’ve set these daily goals I've gotta work out how exactly I'm gonna go about achieving them. I’ve already done a week on time management and I’m gonna go back and look at time management with more detail to see how I can actually achieve these goals in a day without getting too stressed, without compromising my values which I've set up as well. I'll be getting down into the nitty-gritty finding hours where I never knew that existed before optimising my time so whenever I have a couple of minutes I'll be able to put them to good use and work out how I'm gonna get a page of a kids book plus this vlog out each day, when some days I might on average get a couple of hours, but some days I get no hours and some days I might get three hours. So how my gonna make that work?
