A busy day, just back from the zoo today. I just wanted to talk about a bit of a sideline to my positive mindset stuff. I don't think there's anything quite more positive than being productive and creating and doing your own work and getting ahead and moving towards your goals. last week I got a bit distracted with a black-and-white photography challenge and you know that’s great it’s fun, but the problem is I don’t really have any time to do that kinda stuff, but there's another challenge which has come to my attention is Michael Warth’s has done a #7MinDrawingChallenge which aligns perfectly with what I'm trying to do, get a page of a kids book out each day. So if I can illustrate that within seven minutes and then colour it out over the following day then, you know, I'm getting stuff done every day I'm feeling good about it because I’m actually producing some work and so if you can add any of those challenges or even make up your own challenge and see if anyone else wants to join in it's a great way of getting some accountability on getting meeting your goals. #NoSmallCreator #ForkInTheRoad

So today as you might of seen on my Twitter feed that I'm going to the dentist. and you know, you might think that's not related at all. Why you doing that? Well I'm kind of thinking about fear and fear of acting. Like I haven't been to the dentist in over 30 years and not until today when I've actually got such a bad toothache that I'm in agonising pain do I actually do something about it and I think that comes back to my subject last week when I was talking about doing things which make you uncomfortable doing things which make you nervous. Because they're only going to make you better in the Long run. I've been putting off going to the dentist all this time and like I'm not gonna die, I hope I'm not gonna die, anyway we’ll find out…
So here I am at the other end of the dentist trip and my main takeaway from this whole exercise apart from my tooth is that don't put things off, because if you do you might lose the tooth. And you know you might miss opportunities, you might miss out on lots of things, and you know this fear of the unknown you've got to overcome, and it's funny that putting up with this tooth pain this agonising pain was way more painful than getting it removed, in fact having it removed didn't hurt at all. So I suppose the take away is to take that giant leap to make that step and it might not be as scary as you think.

I've kind of discovered that goal setting is a little bit like saving... you know it’s pretty boring it's not as interesting as winning the lottery. Everyone wants to win the lottery and we only tend to hear the stories about people who win the lottery. We don't hear the stories about the people who saved five dollars a day for 15 years and attained a good level of comfort from doing so. You don't hear those kinds of stories. But I think that is the sustainable way I think it's the only way over time every little bit every day you've got a build body of work, you've got to not feel guilty about inserting levels of monetisation in to that so you can start to get something back so you can start doing more and start building towards that successful career.

It's November 1. It's near the end of the day, and I haven't illustrated a page of a kids book yet, what am I doing? Well I had a bit of a family day this morning and this afternoon I've been at a job interview, what am I doing at a job interview? As I stated before, marketing is an essential part, if you are a creator or a storyteller or anyone who is trying to get word out about something you need to be brilliant at marketing it should be part of your job description. I kind of went along with the suggestion that I might be able to help with the storytelling elements, creating content or helping people with ideas for content and helping them get their stories out as businesses, as whatever, so I'll see what happens with that. But I gotta knuckle down and try and get this drawing done by the end of the day.

I’m on my lunch break from some serious earthmoving. So I think what I’ve learnt this week is if you want to implement something don't tell anyone that you're implementing anything because you, no doubt, will not be able to implement it because sometimes accountability isn't helpful and sometimes the pressure can choke you up. Another day of earthmoving today, another day that I can't get to my stuff. It’s probably gonna be like that for the next few days. It feels a bit frustrating but you know, I think I just need to get over that and push through because it's just a short space in time. And it’s all a matter of working with my values in mind, with my number one value being my family.

Everybody cracks on about consistency, and the thing about consistency is that it's a muscle that you build up over time, speaking of New Year's resolutions, it’s like going to the gym. You know you just can't go to the gym one day and expect to be super fit, it’s one of those things that you gotta, you gotta go to every day and keep on working on it and it's uncomfortable it's not much fun for the majority of the population but consistency over time builds up strength, I think that's the equation. I better write that one down. consistency over time equals strength and that's what I want to be working at in the New Year. #GoalSetting #NoSmallCreator
