One big feature that was hyped up about the Kinect was the video chat features. Myself and Thunder E from Booredatwork take a look at if videoKINECT lives up to the hype.


videoKINECT was very simple to setup and easy to connect to a person. You just need to simple choose from the people in your buddy list that is online which will include Xbox 360 friends and Windows Live Contacts. You simple wave your hand over to them to choose and they will receive a direct invite to video chat and once they accept you are instantly connected.

The video quality is surprising good for it not being and HD camera. Playback was smooth and very little lag was noticed. The motion tracking was superb as it could tell when you have moved and it will adjust according without delay. The only thing you can't do at the moment is the sharing content feature which was showing at the E3 press conference but I'm sure that feature will be coming down the road soon.

I could see a lot of people using this feature to chat no only with friends but distant relatives as well. Kinect is a $150 price point if you already have an Xbox 360. That's the same price as the Logitech TV cam which we were not able to get working properly for a fair comparison. If you think about it, buying a Logitech Revue and a Logitech TV camera for this type of feature is going to set you back about $450 on average price. The 4GB Kinect bundle starts at $299 and the 250GB one starts at $400 which is still less than the Logitech solution and you get all the same features minus the TV currently and until apps are allowed on Google TV the feature list will be pretty much the same.
